TeachingWorks -- Dedicated to ensuring beginning teachers are ready to teach on their first day.
New teachers will be prepared in a range of programs. Some will come from traditional university programs; others through alternative routes including Teach for America.
We are agnostic about where they are prepared. We are adamant, however, that they are ready to teach before they start. We are committed to building a common professional threshold for entry to teaching.
We partner with different programs and organizations. Examples include Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas, and Relay Graduate School of Education.
We are working with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to create cutting-edge licensure tests of new teachers that allow them to demonstrate their ability to teach. The elementary versions of this new test – called NOTE, or the National Observational Teacher Examination – will be in place in 2016.
