Take Advantage of a Unique Volunteering Opportunity for Summer 2017: Tutor a Child as a Part of the Elementary Mathematics Program (EMP)!

Undergraduate students are invited to apply to tutor rising fifth graders at the EMP for one or two weeks between July 31 and August 11, 2017.

The Elementary Mathematics Program is a special summer opportunity for a diverse group of 30 fifth grade children that is designed to develop strong and positive academic identities and to set students on a path to success in school mathematics.

One component of the Elementary Mathematics Program involves each child in being paired with a U-M student as "tutor" who works with them and encourages their interest and confidence. Each year, the children in the program talk about how much they love the opportunity to work with their university "tutor."

We are currently accepting applications for tutors to work with a child every afternoon for one or two weeks, and we hope you will be interested in applying!

If you are interested, please complete the online application form located here. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as space permits, so please apply as soon as possible!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the tutoring program director. We look forward to receiving your application and hope to see you this summer!
