The TeachingWorks journal club supports teacher education researchers’ and practitioners’ learning by
exploring the latest research published in peer-reviewed journals. Meetings are focused on disseminating specific information as efficiently as possible.
Journal clubs have been used in other fields as a way of helping faculty members and students stay abreast of new research. The TeachingWorks journal club focuses on recent research in teacher education and its application to practice. A different faculty member, staff member, or graduate student, or education practitioner from in and outisde of the U-M School of Education leads each meeting, selecting two articles from a list of new pieces that have been published on teacher education. The leader summarizes the articles and leads a discussion with the group.
This year, the TeachingWorks journal club will cover the following journals:
- Action in Teacher Education
- American Educational Research Journal
- Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis
- Elementary School Journal
- Equity and Excellence in Education
- Journal of Education for Teaching: International Research and Pedagogy
- Journal of Teacher Education
- Teachers College Record
- Teaching and Teacher Education
- The New Educator
- Urban Review
These brown bag meetings are open to all and will take place on the following Fridays in the TeachingWorks suite (U-M School of Education, 610 East University, Room 1005)
