The 2016 American Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) Annual Meeting will take place February 23-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The TeachingWorks strand at AACTE will examine obstacles to change in teacher education and will ask, How can the profession of teacher education stand up to challenges and take charge of change? TeachingWorks has continued this theme in our 2015-16 streaming seminar series, and we look forward to collaborating with our colleagues at the annual meeting on this important issue in teacher education.

The 2016 strand includes the following major forum, concurrent sessions, and other events presented by expert teacher educators and researchers.

Major Forum: How can the profession specify standards of practice (not just knowledge) for entry to teaching?
During this session, the panel will explore what professional standards in teacher education should be common, which should vary, as well as implications of these standards for equity.
