Teacher Education, Redefined
Foundations of Practice-Based Teacher Education Workshop
Join us for the Foundations of Practice-Based Teacher Education workshop, a two-and-a-half-day in-person event that provides a comprehensive introduction to the foundational ideas and skills of practice-based teacher education and equips participants with the tools and strategies needed to design or redesign instructional activities in their own courses or programs. Together, we’ll explore the following questions:
What does it mean to ground teacher education in practice? What instructional strategies help teacher candidates develop skill with high-leverage teaching practices?
We will share specific approaches to helping teacher candidates learn the building blocks of equitable teaching practices, and you’ll take away multiple examples of lessons and instructional activities that you can use in your own teaching. Each day, participants will view and discuss examples of practice-based teacher education, and engage in an ongoing conversation about how to prepare teacher candidates to use teaching practices that help all students learn at high levels. The workshop also includes opportunities to practice leading rehearsals and coaching teacher candidates.
