Beyond Foundations: Practice-Based Pedagogies Deep Dive

Beyond Foundations: Practice-Based Pedagogies Deep Dive

Already have some experience with practice-based teacher education and looking to keep growing your skills? Join us for this one-and-a-half-day in-person event geared to teacher educators interested in continuing to develop skill with practice-based pedagogies. We will build on the Foundations of Practice-Based Teacher Education Workshop by digging more deeply into several powerful pedagogies of teacher education, including using videos and transcripts to introduce and help teacher candidates practice practice. Together, we’ll explore the following questions:

How can I identify or develop videos and transcripts of classroom teaching that will help me prepare teacher candidates to enact high-leverage practices and manage common classroom challenges?

What forms of simulations can I use besides rehearsal, and what is involved in designing and facilitating them?

Each day, participants will view and discuss examples of practice-based teacher education, and we’ll provide opportunities for workshopping your own designs. Expect engaged conversation about the challenges of preparing novice teachers for practice, and plenty of resource-sharing.
