TeachingWorks and ETS assessment partnership featured in EdWeek article

The National Observational Teaching Exam, or NOTE, a licensure-level assessment for classroom teachers developed by TeachingWorks in partnership with Educational Testing Service (ETS) is the subject of an article by Stephen Sawchuk in today’s Education Week.

The article quotes TeachingWorks Director, Deborah Loewenberg Ball, who states, “We should debate less about entry standards to teacher education, and we should agree more on what the exit standards are.”

The article details the differences between NOTE and current, portfolio-based assessments, and outlines the specific high-leverage practices measured by the exam. Large-scale piloting and field-testing of NOTE will begin in early 2015, and the operational launch of the assessments is scheduled for spring 2016.
